The last couple of years, I've been trying to make a bit of a point about Christmas in July, and taking that as my starting point for making things for Christmas... Of course, at this stage, I'm not thinking a completely handmade Christmas is possible... but I'm trying to gradually increase our homemade bits. I'm really trying to work on making stuff with the kids (well, with Puggle so far, I'm going to begin with Bilby this year), so that they get into the handmade rather than bought habit.
However, given how I managed with Bilby's birthday last week (posts to come:-) ), where every present we thought of involved me sewing, I'm now going to say that anything (apart from foodstuffs:-) )that isn't made by a week before Christmas—isn't going to get made:-)

i did a handmade christmas a few years ago and i was blown away with how much *time* it took! of course, i was making the gifts myself and not using etsy. ;^)

i have been toying with doing it again this year, but i worry that i won't finish and i'll have to buy some of my gifts at the last minute - or, like last time, i'll just keep pushing myself to finish right through christmas night!
