Songs We Sing

We work on a folksong a month. Here’s a list linking to the words of all the songs we have attempted to learn. I used the Ambleside Online list as a starting point for each year and have added lots of others I knew, and then filled in with some I’d heard of, or that just looked interesting. (See that link for an explanation as to why we use Folksongs… well, some of the reasons! Kodàly was also a big believer in the value of Folksongs as a tool for music education.) Some we are reasonably familiar with, some we still need the words for, and some we have barely begun. But mostly (at least with the more recent songs) we are well on the way to knowing them.
